They occur in the mind of Sue Snell (Amy Irving, shamelessly reprising her role), the only main character left alive during Carrie's prom revenge freakout. After a brief stint in an insane asylum, Snell is now a therapist at a suburban high school and is currently counseling Rachel Lang (Emily Bergl). Rachel isn't like other girls. When Rachel gets really mad, she moves things with her mind. Rachel's been really mad lately, because her best friend jumped from a rooftop in the first 10 minutes of this movie. Even though there's absolutely no development of this relationship, don't doubt it: we know they're best friends because they have matching tattoos. Rachel's friend lost it because she was the latest victim in a fun game that members of the football team play off the field in which they keep a running count of how many girls they can seduce, using a rating scale based on appearance. Of course, there's a nice one, Jesse (Jason London), who feels guilty about playing the game and falls for Carrie, er, Rachel. Everything appears to be changing for Rachel, but Jesse's friends have other plans. Snell knows what's up, however, and it's pretty funny watching her explain it to Rachel: "I've been through this movie before" is essentially what she says, but Rachel doesn't want to hear that she's not an original character, that she's a cheap, slightly hardened and revised '90s rip-off with no autonomy. DescriptionHead Coach Joe Gibbs led Washington Redskins to three Super Bowls wins in 11 years and he did it with three different quarterbacks. A players' strike shortened the NFL season to 9 games in 1982 leaving teams scrambling to reach the playoffs. Most clubs were rusty after the layoff, but Gibbs kept Redskins focused. In Super Bowl XVII, it was Joe Theismann who led Washington to victory over the Miami Dolphins. In 1987, Gibbs told Doug Williams that he was being traded to the Raiders but reconsidered just hours later. In Super Bowl XXII Doug Williams' made Gibbs' decision a brilliant one as his passing produced an amazing 35 points in the second quarter alone and he was named the games MVP. Five years later, Gibbs took note of Mark Rypien's ability to throw an accurate, deep pass which, combined with the speed of wide receivers Art Monk, Ricky Sanders and Gary Clark, helped lead the Redskins to victory over the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXVI. The story of the 1982 Redskins is told by Theismann, Guard Russ Grimm and Tight End Rick Walker. Williams, Center Jeff Bostic and Cornerback Darrell Green recount the 1987 Redskins' season. DescriptionUnder the leadership of Al Davis, the Oakland Raiders were one of the dominant NFL teams from the mid-60's, throughout the 70's and even into the early 80's. In 1976, the Raiders won a team record 13 games, defeated the Patriots and Steelers in the playoffs and reached the summit of professional football with their victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl XI.. Nobody loves reclamation projects more than Davis. Former Heisman Trophy winner, Jim Plunkett was cast out of New England and released by San Francisco before arriving in Oakland in 1978. In week 6 of the 1980 season, Head Coach, Tom Flores, gave Plunkett his chance. With an MVP performance, Plunkett rewarded his team's confidence in him by leading the Raiders to victory in Super Bowl XV. Led by Flores, the 1983 Raiders entered Super Bowl XVIII as underdogs to the highest scoring team in the NFL, the Washington Redskins. But the Raiders held that offense to just 9 points and manhandled the Redskins 38-9 to win their third Vince Lombardi Trophy. The story of the 1976 Raiders is told by Hall of Fame Head Coach, John Madden, Quarterback Ken Stabler and Linebacker Phil Villapiano. Plunkett, Linebacker Matt Millen and Hall of Fame Guard, Gene Upshaw recount the Raiders season of 1980. Although all of his films, including Offside, have been banned by Iran, he continues to make movies which explore the very human side of the conflicts in his native country. In the case of Offside, he used a fake name and false papers in order to get permission to shoot at an actual soccer match in Iran. As a result, Offside has a documentary feel which captures the very real humor and determination of the Iranian women – and men – who love soccer and are willing to go to extreme lengths for the opportunity to cheer on the home team. The ingenious concept of Offside puts most of the action at a large soccer stadium in Tehran, where a group of young women--banned from the game on the sole basis of their sex--have been captured by stadium guards after sneaking inside. Not only are they in a kind of holding pen awaiting arrest, the girls can't even glimpse the World Cup qualifying match between Iran and Bahrain, although they can hear the sounds of the crowd. (They've made themselves up to look like boys, thus risking serious consequences for the sake of their fandom, but the no-women-allowed rule is in place to "protect" them from the rough habits of men.) Panahi actually withholds the game itself, focusing on the interactions between the girls and their guards--a group of disaffected guys who would rather be watching the game themselves. At every turn Panahi illuminates some subtle point about the limits put on women, yet the film is full of humor. The viewer is left not with a political tract but with rich human comedy, and with the idea that the spectacle of a white ball pushed across a green field might bring people together in a way that transcends sex, class, or the oppressive rules of a regime. --Robert Horton
