The baby-to-toddler set gets an expedition through a variety of animal habitats across the planet in this installment of the Baby Einstein series. Despite the title, there is no real biblical connection to the material other than Noah's Ark toys and a few paintings (minus Noah and family). The subtitle "Animal Expedition" is far more accurate, as the 38-minute program takes the youngsters through the African savannah, rainforest, ocean, Australian Outback, and polar regions. As in its predecessors in the series, this one focuses on a few animals in each segment with repetition through toys, puppets and nature footage. Ever dedicated to her job, Tennison is determined to solve one final case, that of a 14-year old girl Sallie Sturdy (Maxine Barton) who's gone missing, before she retires. Even as Detective Superintendent Tennison's father takes seriously ill and alcohol-induced blackouts hinder her investigative capabilities, Tennison remains resolute in her determination to solve the case. As the investigation progresses, Tennison develops an unusually close relationship with the missing girl's young friend Penny Phillips (Laura Greenwood), seeing much of her younger self in the headstrong girl, and struggles to maintain her focus and use her crime-solving instincts and sharp eye for detail to bring Sallie's killer to justice. In the end, Tennison must also find a way to come to terms with her own alcoholism and impending retirement.

Prime Suspect was a groundbreaking British television series because of its portrayal of a powerful woman who dared to aspire to a leadership role in the man's world of police detective work. Forced to rely on one another for survival, they overcome their differences and become fast friends. You can almost hear them break into an off-key version of "It's a Small World." German director Wolfgang Petersen, so brutally honest with his film Das Boot, turns warm and cuddly on us with this intergalactic buddy movie. Much of the problem, though, is that the script sets us up for an intriguing encounter, then settles for a simple and sentimental resolution. Noteworthy set design and strong performances, especially by Gossett, push this beyond mere mediocrity. Once upon a time, during the tail end of the psychedelic sixties, a program appeared that captured the imagination of children as much as the tenor of the times. Not that H.R. Pufnstuf, which premiered on NBC in 1969, dealt with heavy topics like the Vietnam War. Instead, this colorful Sid and Marty Krofft creation mixed live action with puppetry and kept things groovy with song, dance, bad puns, trippy sets, and wacky sound effects. Like The Wizard of Oz and "Puff the Magic Dragon," its charming innocence appealed as much to kids as to the kinds of adults who flocked to Pee-wee's Playhouse and SpongeBob SquarePants in later years. The story begins when Jimmy (Oliver!'s Jack Wild) is tricked by Witchiepoo (Billie Hayes) into taking a boat ride on a sunny day.
