District Attorney Jim Garrison points out that Lee Harvey Oswald, a Marine assigned to Russian reconnaissance, operated a "Communist" organization out of a government intelligence office. For the first time, a Hill fan can get familiar with some of the talented women who decorate Hill's show and even appreciate them for something beyond the obvious.

Otherwise, Set Four carries on the tradition of Hill's naughty burlesque act. In "First Impressions," two Irish blokes--improbable guests on a television interview show--encounter a language barrier with the host due to their unique pronunciations: "My friend gave driving tests to girls, and sometimes he would feel them." "He would, uh, feel them?" "Yes, if they didn't pass, he'd feel them." In the very Red Skelton-like "Hotel Sordide" sketch, Hill plays a bellhop who inadvertently gets caught in a raucous fight between lovers, besieged by amorous attentions from comely ladies and the jealous rages of their men. The band members refer to it as their "Nashville album," but make no mistake about it: a fiddle here or a pedal steel guitar there won't change the fact that Lost Highway, performed in its entirety in this 2007 concert, is every inch a Bon Jovi record--not their best, perhaps, but one that is nevertheless extremely popular and embodies all of the veteran band's strengths. The setting here, a Chicago studio with a stage constructed specially for the occasion, is obviously more intimate than the humongous stadiums they fill on tour, but singer Jon Bon Jovi, guitarist Richie Sambora, and their mates (augmented here by four additional musicians) are still one of the ultimate arena bands, pumping out the kind of tunes that inspire the faithful to pump their fists during the guitar solos and sing joyfully along with the big, anthemic choruses that are a staple of the Bon Jovi repertoire. Lost Highway has plenty of those (cf. the title song, "Any Other Day," and "I Love this Town"), mixed in with ballads like "(You Want to) Make a Memory" and "Seat Next to You." These and other songs offer the kind of universal, if somewhat facile, sentiments (life's tough, we all feel alone sometimes, but when the chips are down I'll be there for you) summed up by Bon Jovi's comment about the songwriting process: "Our story becomes your story." Benny Hill Complete and Unadulterated: The Naughty Early Years, Set Two (1972-1974), a sequel to the delightful Set One (1969-1971), continues opening the vaults on Hill's burlesque and satiric legacy at the Thames Television network. After enjoying stardom on the BBC, Hill made the leap to Thames at the end of the '60s, where he enjoyed creative freedom and the deluxe benefits of a color broadcast. Set Two reveals no slowing down of Hill's prolific imagination, mastery of sketch comedy, or cheeky wit with that old Brit favorite, the sex farce. It does suggest that Hill was willing to gently bite the hand that fed him, however, as several sketches skewer the wisdom of Thames management.

Set Two includes 10 original episodes, never before seen in the U.S. in their complete form. As always, Hill kicks off every show with a "Benny Quickie," or blackout gag, followed by a silly song. ("Oh, Zandoona," a ballad about a willowy young miss, finds Hill--accompanied by house vocal group the Ladybirds--confessing, "Luckily she was blessed with two warts on her chest / Or she'd have no figure at all.") One of the most inspired sketches is an interview with "avant-garde French film director" Pierre de Tierre (Hill), who dismisses heady critical praise from a fawning interviewer. (Calling Pierre a genius for shifting from color to black and white in one of his features, the host is flattened by the filmmaker's response: "No, no. I ran out of color.") Other good things include Hill's impression of singer Shirley Bassey (in a deep-plunging, backless dress, no less), a short film about married thieves (to the tune of Noel Coward's "Little Things"), a lecherous ballet set in a park, and an interview with Hill's crusading, Fleet Steet scandal-monger, Mervyn Cruddy. Another interview, with Hill's slightly dotty Fred Scuttle, is laced with light sarcasm about the state of British TV and, of course, includes much naughty schoolboy humor.
